Acceleration During Invisalign Treatment
Typically, you must wear each set of aligners for at least 7-14 days to achieve full movements. There is an accelerated version where we utilize two biologic methods to cut your treatment time in half. Instead of wearing the trays for 7-14 days, you may be able to switch aligners after 4-5 days!
The first method is to wear an accelerating device called “vPro+”. This is a U-shaped mouthpiece that you will bite into that sends vibrations to your teeth. It also seats the aligners against the teeth to make the teeth move better. You must wear this device for 5 minutes a day.
To clean the device, use warm water and hand or dish soap. The device should be charged in the charging case. You must remove the mouthpiece prior to putting the base in the charging case, otherwise it will not charge properly.
Propel (Micro-osteo Perforations/ MOPS)
The second method is called “Propel.” Propel is “Micro-osteo-perforations.” When you come in for your first set of aligners, the dentist will numb your mouth and put very tiny pricks into the gums around the teeth roots. You do not feel any pain. This causes inflammatory cells to move around the roots of the teeth to allow the bone to reform faster. Usually you only need 1 Propel session unless you have a longer treatment plan. MOPS may be completed every 10-12 weeks. During your Invisalign treatment, it is important to avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen.
