Invisalign

Invisalign Q&A

by Alina Lane, DDS

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a removable device used to straighten the teeth over time. The device is clear, so other people won’t be able to tell that the patient is wearing it. This is ideal for teenagers and adults who don’t like the idea of wearing braces. Dr. Lane used Invisalign to shift teeth vertically and horizontally. Invisalign can even rotate teeth successfully.

How does it work?

Each patient receives a unique set of Invisalign aligners designed specifically for them. These aligners fit tightly over the teeth and are almost invisible. Patients will change to a new set of aligners at regular intervals, such as every 7 days. Each set of aligners will shift the teeth slightly. Over time, the teeth will become straighter and more visually appealing.

Is Invisalign painful?

Invisalign aligners shift the patient’s teeth gradually and gently. These devices are designed to exert just the right amount of pressure on the teeth. Because the changes are so gradual, most patients experience very little discomfort during treatment.

How long does treatment with Invisalign take?

The amount of time it will take to complete treatment with Invisalign varies. Every patient’s teeth are different. While some patients won’t require as much movement to get the straight smile they want, others will need more extensive work before achieving the desired results.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Invisalign offers several benefits over braces. Most notably, Invisalign isn't easily visible. Patients can wear Invisalign aligners without drawing attention to their teeth. Invisalign is also gentle, comfortable, and convenient. The device is removable and customized to fit the teeth of each individual patient. In addition, Dr. Lane can use Invisalign for patients with a range of alignment problems. In many cases, Invisalign can correct alignment problems faster than traditional braces.

How much does it cost?

The cost of Invisalign varies based on the extent of the treatment needed. Dr. Lane can provide patients with a detailed estimate after completing an exam and developing an Invisalign treatment plan. Call or schedule an appointment online at All Smiles Dentistry.
